Sidney Summers was born in Soham on 30th May 1915 (Newmarket Q3-1915 3B:808), baptised in Soham on 2nd July 1915, son of James and Clara Summers (née HILLS) of Qua Fen Common, Soham

He was the brother of Frank SUMMERS who died in 1917 in the 3rd battle for Ypres

The 2nd Cambridgeshires were deployed on coastal defence in UK and at the end of 1940 were stationed around Houghton Hall, Raynham, Norfolk. He was riding a motor cycle with a pillion passenger on the Kings Lynn-Fakenham Road when he crashed the motorbike. He died on his injuries the next day, his passenger survived.
